Leschaux

Leschaux is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Leschaux is located at 930 m above sea level. M., about 15 km south of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends near the broad saddle of the Col de Leschaux, in the northern part of the massif of the Wallows, at the eastern foot of the Semnoz.

The area of ​​12:52 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Wallows. The central area is occupied by the broad saddle of the Col de Leschaux ( 897 m above sea level. M. ). It forms the watershed of a valley that is oriented in north-south direction and the parallel chains of Semnoz ( in the west) and the Roc Bœufs (to the east ) is flanked. Attractions

The village church of Leschaux dates from the 19th century. The village is the site of the Musée du Semnoz.

Population

With 269 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Leschaux one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 358 residents counted in Leschaux ).
