Entrevernes

Entrevernes is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Entrevernes is located at 810 m above sea level. M., 12 km south-southeast of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends in the northern part of the massif of the Wallows in an open valley to the north that is bordered by two parallel ridges, the Roc des Bœufs the west and the Taillefer in the East.

The area of ​​8.31 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the massif of the Wallows. The northern part of the area is occupied by the valley of Entrevernes which is drained north to the Lac d' Annecy. On its eastern side the valley is the ridge of Taillefer limited ( to 870 m above sea level. M. ), which has a steep drop, especially to the east. In the West, the much higher, striking ridge of the Roc des Bœufs Towering, which stretches to a length of nearly 10 km in the north-south direction. About a saddle, the area extends southward into the geological continuation of the Entrevernes valley to the summit of the Col de la Frasse. This 1379 m high saddle is flanked by two craggy limestone cliffs, namely the west from the highest point of the Roc des Bœufs ( with 1774 m above sea level. M. also the highest elevation of Entrevernes ) and to the east of the Dent du Char (1645 m above sea level. M. ).

To Entrevernes next to the village itself includes various hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:

  • Membert (920 m above sea level. M. ) in the valley of Entrevernes
  • Les Fauges (950 m above sea level. M. ) at the foot of the Roc des Bœufs

Neighboring communities of Entrevernes are Duingt in the north, Lathuile in the east, Bellecombe -en -Bauges in the south and La Chapelle -Saint -Maurice and Saint- Eustache in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Entrevernes in 1464 under the name Intervernoe. The place name means between the alders, which covered the alder forests slopes of the surrounding mountain ranges are meant. The place was an independent municipality in 1741, separated as parts of the municipalities of Duingt and Lathuile and were joined to form the present-day municipality spell of Entrevernes.

Population

With 211 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Entrevernes one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Savoie. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still in Entrevernes counted 441 inhabitants). Due to the remoteness and low expansion possibilities, the population of Entrevernes remained relatively constant in contrast to other municipalities in the surrounding area in recent decades.

Economy and infrastructure

Entrevernes was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. The only entrance is from Duingt on the main road N508 (Annecy- Albertville ).
