Edin Džeko [ ɛdin dʒɛkɔ ] ( born March 17, 1986 in Sarajevo, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Bosnian football player. He played in the English Premier League with Manchester City in the position of striker.

Career
Career in Bosnia - Herzegovina and the Czech Republic
Edin Džeko played from 1996 to 2005 at FK Željezničar Sarajevo. In the season 2004/ 05 Željezničar coached by Czech Jiří Plíšek, the Džeko the FK Teplice recommended that finally obliged the young striker for 80,000 euros. Džeko, who signed a four -year contract, but was nad immediately to the second division side FK Ústí borrowed Labem, in which Plíšek was coach. In 15 games, he scored six goals. VfL Wolfsburg
For the season 2007/ 08 Džeko joined the Bundesliga for VfL Wolfsburg. He got there a contract until 2011. The Bosnian quickly established himself in the starting eleven and arrived on 28 missions. With eight goals in his first year he was second best striker of the team.
The following year he played a good first round, in the second half he stayed only four of 17 games without a goal. With two goals in two minutes he scored Wolfsburg on Matchday 26, with a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the lead, the game ended 5-1 and VfL took over the top spot. 2 May 2009 Džeko scored in the match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the second half 13 minutes of his first hat-trick in the Bundesliga. At the penultimate round, he scored again three goals in the match against Hannover 96 at the end of the season Džeko was with VfL Wolfsburg German champion and was with 26 goals behind his strike partner Grafite second in the Bundesliga scoring charts. The strike partnership was the most successful of the past 35 years and broke a total of 54 gates the old record scorer (53 goals) by Gerd Müller and Uli Hoeness from the 1971 season / 72nd
August 1, 2009 Džeko signed a new contract with VfL Wolfsburg until 2013. His annual salary was increased to five million euros. In the 2009/10 season he was with 22 -goal top scorer in the Bundesliga.
With his goal to make it 1-0 against 1 FSV Mainz 05 on Matchday 2 of the 2010/11 season, he broke Diego Klimowicz as a scorer from VfL Wolfsburg and scored by the end of the first round ten goals, more than any other player of the teams in the season.
Manchester City
During the winter break of the season 2010/11 Džeko signed for Manchester City a contract until the end of June 2015. On 13 May 2012, he scored for Manchester City in the last game of the season against Queens Park Rangers the temporary equalizer to make it 2-2 in the second minute of stoppage time and brought the team is still on the way to third title in the club's history. The gate to the final score of 3-2 Sergio Aguero scored in the fourth minute of injury time.

Džeko played in the U-15, U-17, U - 19 and U - 21 team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His debut in the senior team, he gave June 2, 2007 against Turkey. He is top scorer of the national team of his country (as of October 2013).
