Edoardo Bennato

Edoardo Bennato ( born July 23, 1946 in Naples ) is an Italian singer-songwriter and rock musician.

Biography

Edoardo was born in the industrial area of ​​Bagnoli in the west of Naples. Through the radio station stationed nearby American garrison he was in his younger years with rock 'n' roll music in contact, an experience that he described as formative for him. His brother Eugenio is also songwriter.

Edoardo first wrote songs for other singers. In 1966 he recorded his first solo single Era un sogno, which was originally scheduled for Bobby Solo, but was still sung by himself. First, however, he moved to Milan, where he began to study architecture, which he completed successfully. He then spent some time as a street musician in London and Copenhagen in the years 1969 to 1971, then they appeared Singles Marylou, 1941 and Good- bye Copenhagen. The success but turned first one not.

In 1973, he joined the record company Dischi Ricordi, which was a bastion of the Italian cantautori then. There, his debut album was released in Non Farti cadere le braccia which was praised by both critics and the public alike high.

In 1992 he published under the pseudonym Joe Sarnataro the album È asciuto pazzo 'o padrone with Blue Rock in Neapolitan dialect.

In 2006 he first came on along with the 20 years younger singer and guitarist Alex Britti, with whom he recorded the single Notte di mezza estate.

Trivia

  • Edoardo has a degree in architecture. The topic of his thesis was a redesign of a public transport system for his home region of Campi Flegrei. The cover of the 1975 soundtrack LP Io che non sono l' imperatore shows a drawing to created by him. The reference to his home region is also reflected in many of his lyrics.
  • In 1980, he released two studio albums at a distance of just three weeks, namely UFFA UFFA and Sono canzonette solo.
