Edoardo Borromeo

Edoardo Borromeo ( born August 3, 1822 in Milan, † November 30, 1881 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal.

Borromeo was Prefect of the Papal Household under Pius IX .. This gave him in December 1846, the priesthood, and raised him in the consistory of March 16, 1868 cardinal deacon of Santi Vito, Modesto e Crescenzia. 1872 Pius IX raised him. Archpriest of the Vatican Basilica. On March 28, 1878, he was inducted into the class of Cardinal cardinal priest and was the titular church of Santa Prassede. In addition, he was appointed on 19 April 1878 Titular Archbishop of Adana. He received his episcopal consecration by Pope Leo XIII. on 19 May of the same year.

Cardinal Borromeo was a participant at the First Vatican Council and the conclave in 1878, from which Leo XIII. emerged as the Pope.

He was the seventh of a series of cardinals from the Borromeofamilie.
