Edoardo Ricci

Edoardo Ricci (* April 27, 1928 in Pignona di Sesta Godano, province of La Spezia, Italy, † November 28, 2008 in La Spezia) was Roman Catholic Bishop of San Miniato.

Life

Edoardo Ricci received after studying Catholic theology and philosophy on 8 October 1950, the ordination. Subsequently, he studied art in Pisa and Church History at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

Pope John Paul II appointed him in 1987 to the bishop of San Miniato. He received his episcopal consecration on June 7, 1987, the Archbishop of Florence, Cardinal Silvano Piovanelli; Co-consecrators were Siro Silvestri, Bishop of La Spezia, Sarzana e Brugnato, and Giuseppe Bonfigioli, Archbishop of Cagliari.

He hosted the Diocesan Synod from 1996 to 1999, the first after the Second Vatican Council. Since 1997, he committed himself to the comprehensive restoration of the Cathedral of San Miniato " Santissima Maria Assunta and Genesio ".

His age-related resignation was accepted by Pope John Paul II in 2004. He died as a result of several strokes, he had suffered since 2006.
