Eduard von Bauernfeld

Eduard von Bauersfeld ( pseudonyms: Rusticocampius, field) (born 13 January 1802 in Vienna, † August 9, 1890 ) was an Austrian writer.

Life

Eduard von Bauernfeld first attended the Scots College in Vienna and studied philosophy from 1819 to 1821, then to 1825 law. As of September 1, 1826 Farmer Field worked as a concept intern at the Lower Austrian government, from 1827 he was an intern in the district office concept for the quarter under the Vienna Woods and 1830, he moved on the recommendation of his friend Karl Enderes as an intern in the court chamber. From 1843 he was an official in the Directorate lottery.

He also worked as a writer and criticized as a representative of the great German liberal bourgeoisie in 1846 with his comedy big year the states of the pre-March period. In 1848 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences, however, released in the same year from the civil service. Then Bauersfeld eventually worked as a freelance writer and eventually became one of the most successful playwright in Austria.

He is considered a master of the conversation piece with Viennese local color and was the house poet of the Burgtheater in which his plays to 1902 witnessed about 1100 performances. 1882 Bauersfeld was the honorary citizenship of the city of Vienna awarded in 1883 an honorary doctorate from the University of Vienna. Next cultivated farmers field close contacts and friendships with well-known personalities such as Moritz von Schwind, Franz Schubert, Franz von Schober, Ernst von Feuchtersleben, Nikolaus Lenau, Johann Gabriel Seidl and Franz Grillparzer.

Eduard of Farmer Field also wrote political pieces and came about more often with censorship in conflict. His work The Republic of the Animals criticized the conditions in Austria at the time of Metternich and is quite comparable to " Animal Farm " by George Orwell.

The farmer field of testamentary donated Bauersfeld Prize has been awarded since 1894.
