Edward Codrington

Sir Edward Codrington (* April 27, 1770, † April 28, 1851 in Eaton Square, London) was a British admiral.

Being an old family, he commanded at Trafalgar as captain the ship of the line HMS Orion, took in 1809 on the expedition to Walcheren in part, fought in the next few years with a squadron to the coast of Spain against the French. Under the Admiral Sir Alexander Cochrane, he served it in America, 1813 Rear Admiral, Vice-Admiral in 1815 and took over as such command of the fleet in the Mediterranean, which should observe the Turkish naval power.

In association with the French squadron under Admiral de Rigny he urged Ibrahim Pasha, the commander of the Egyptian- Turkish war power in the Morea on 25 September 1827 a truce.
