Edward Mahama

Edward Mahama Nasigre ( born April 15, 1945 in Sumniboma, Ghana ) is a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology, lecturer and leading opposition politicians in Ghana.

Training

Mahama visited the Nalerigu Primary School and Middle School Nalerigu 1953-1959. Following this, he attended 1961-1965 the Tamale Secondary School in Tamale. Mahama then attended the University of Ghana, Legon, a suburb of Accra from 1965 to 1972. , Where he received his MB and Ch B degree in human medicine.

Career

Mahama is one of the leading physicians of Ghana. Between 1978 and 1990, Dr. Mahama was a member of the Health Association (Board of Health ) for the fields of obstetrics and gynecology of the city of Chicago, USA, as well as clinical instructor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University. Between 1974 and 1976 he was a senior doctor of health care in the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu, Ghana. In Columbus Hospital in Chicago, he worked 1977-1980 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was promoted to Chief of the Department.

Between 1985 and 1990 he worked as director of the Association of Chief physician (Superior Medical Associates ). Lartey was in 1990 at the Korle Bu lecturer at Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Mahama is a political friend of former President Hilla Aeschlimann, who renounced in the 1996 elections in a bid again zugrunsten Mahamas.

In 1996, Mahama was for the party People's National Convention (PNC ) candidate of the presidential elections and won 3.0 percent of the vote. Outstanding President Jerry Rawlings won the elections. Mahama tried again out of the opposition in the presidential elections in Ghana in 2000. He won 2.5 percent of the vote and defeated, significantly later president John Agyekum Kufuor. A change of strategy was carried out in the presidential elections in 2004. Here it reached Mahama, several smaller opposition parties to the grand coalition ( Grand Coalition) unite (PNC ), Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere ( EGLE ) and Great Consolidated Popular Party ( GCPP ). Mahama was set up as a presidential candidate of the grand coalition for the elections, but won only 1.9 percent of the vote. In the presidential elections in Ghana in 2008, finally, he failed in 0.8 % of the vote. Mahama is acting chairman of the PNC.

Mahama is the author of the 96-page book " The New Ghanaian, A Mandate for Change."

Edward Mahama is with Comfort Mahama (* November 24, 1954 ), a pharmacist from the United States of America, married. Both have four children together.
