Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is an American band from Los Angeles, California. The band can be assigned to the Genres Alternative rock, pop - rock and indie - folk.

History

The band was founded in 2007 by Alex Ebert, vocalist of the band Ima Robot. Shortly before learned Ebert the singer Jade Castrinos in a coffee shop know and decided to do with her music together.

In summer 2008 the band embarked on their first tour of America, their first concert ever they were at the Marfa Film Festival in Marfa (Texas ).

About a year later, on 14 July 2009, the band released their first album called Up from Below, this reached # 76 on the Billboard 200 soon followed by the EP Here Comes.

Name

The band's name comes from a fictional character, the Alexander Ebert invented after he had completed a twelve -step program to deal with a drug problem. The character was a kind of Messiah who was sent to Earth to save humanity, but then "distracted " by several girls and was often in love.

Big Easy Express

In April 2011, the band pulled together with Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show on the Railroad Revival tour of the United States. The three bands traveled in a train with 14 wagons from Oakland to New Orleans and played six concerts on the go. Arrested was the tour in the documentary Big Easy Express by Emmett Malloy.
