Egyptian parliamentary election, 1990

Early parliamentary elections were held in Egypt on 29 November 1990, with a second round for 261 seats on 6 December.

They followed a referendum in October on the early termination of the Egyptian Parliament due to concerns about the legality of the parliamentary elections in Egypt in 1987. However, the elections were nevertheless boycotted by the Socialist Labor Party, the Socialist Liberal Party and the New Wafd Party, which claimed that that the reformed electoral law could miss it, to ensure free elections.

The result was a victory for the ruling National Democratic Party ( NDP), which won a total of 348 of the 444 seats. However, 56 of the 83 independent candidates with the NDP were connected, while 14 with the New Wafd Party, 8 by the Socialist Labour Party and the Socialist Liberals were associated with a party. The turnout was 44.2 %, but were still expected before the election so that they could be only 20 to 30% 5. Iinsgesamt selected 7,253.168 people, of whom 350 186 were invalid or blank votes.
