Eidsbugarden

Eidsbugarden is a small Norwegian town, the south-east of the Jotunheimen National Park lies at the western end of the Bygdin Lake.

In Eidsbugarden there are about 160 private cabins, the DNT cabin Fondsbu and was built in 1909 and reopened in 2006 eponymous mountain hotel ( Høyfjellshotell Eidsbugarden ). From here, numerous hiking trails in northern directions to Jotunheimen. This result, inter alia, to the hiking huts Skogadalsbøen, Olavsbu, Gjendebu, Torfinnsbu and Yksendalsbu.

The place can be by car via the Riksvei 252 of Tyinkrysset of reach, or in the summer with the M / B Bitihorn from place Bygdin of which lies at the eastern end of the lake. In the winter instead drive a snowmobile across the lake.

The poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje had Eidsbugarden in a small hut ( Vinjestua ), which still stands today. In 1959 a monument to him was not far from there set, a 1.5 m high granite bust.

Every year on the first weekend of August is held the music festival Vinjerock in Eidsbugarden.
