Einar Økland

Einar Andreas Økland (born 17 January 1940 in Valevåg ) is a Norwegian writer.

Life

Økland was born in the village of Sveio in Fylke Hordaland. From 1960 to 1965 he studied psychology in Oslo. After that he settled first as a psychologist in Bodo, 1966 then as a professional writer in Oslo down. There he was among the founders of the group profile. In 1992, he was director of the cultural festivals Festspillene i Bergen.

His debut as a writer was Økland 1963 with the poetry collection A gul dag. Since then he has published over 50 books of poetry, prose, essays and children 's literature. He was in favor with several prizes, including the critics prizes for children 's literature in 1978, the Aschehougpreis 1988, the Melsompreis 1992 and the Doblougpreis 2000.
