Einherjer

Einherjer is a Norwegian Viking metal band from Haugesund.

Band History

Einherjer was formed in January 1993 by Frode Glesnes (guitar) and Gerhard Storesund (drums ) after their previous band Beelzebub had been dissolved. Together with the singer Rune Bjelland and Audun Wold was still recorded the demo Aurora borealis with four pieces in the same year on the electric bass. A year later, the recorded in October 1994 in the studio Lydloftet EP Leve Vikingånden on Necromantic Gallery Productions. In 1996 moved Audun Wold from electric bass to the electric guitar, the free items took Stein Sund. In this line, the debut album Dragons of the North appeared at Napalm Records, a year later, the single Far Far North followed with Century Media. In 1998, with Ragnar Vikse as a singer and Erik Elden on electric bass new members to Einherjer after all had left the band up to the founding members. In the same year the second album, Odin Owns Ye All appeared. Shortly after the recording of Erik Elden left the band again. In the next two years were Tchort (including Green Carnation, ex- Emperor, Carpathian Forest ), Jon Lind and again Stein Sund briefly as bassist with Einherjer, from 2000, the post remained vacant. Just a year ago Aksel Herløe had come as second guitarist to the band.

In 2000, the first demo aurora borealis was re-released on Necropolis Records. In the same year the third album Norwegian Native Art appeared on this album by Frode Glesnes and Gerhard Storesund together with Ragnar Vikse had founded the label in Native North Records. The latter left Einherjer but soon after. Two years later, three pieces were released on the band's website for free download under the title "Demo Recordings". The band broke up in early 2004, a few months after the release of their last album blot. In December 2004, the last active members of Einherjer formed the thrash metal band Battered.

Einherjer have played at the Ragnarök Festival, Wacken Open Air, and on the Paganfest reunion shows in 2009. End of the year they finally gave known again in 2010 to record an album together as Einherjer. On 9 September 2011 appeared under the label Indie Recordings with Norrøn 's fifth studio album.
