Summit Einödriegel

The 1,121 -meter-high Einödriegel is a mountain in front Bavarian Forest southwest of the Lower Bavarian county seat rain (city) and northeast of the county town of Deggendorf. He is the highest elevation in the district of Deggendorf and is located in the municipality Count compact.

Its neighboring mountains are the Geißkopf, the three Tannenriegel and of the width bars, all located at the same range of hills near Bishop corn. On the Einödriegel is a stately summit cross with rest benches and a beautiful view to the west and northeast. In winter, a ski lift from the lower width- up, part of the ski resort of Geißkopfs. In summer, however it is very quiet at the summit, there is no marked trail leads up.

After some, especially older geographical and lexical works already expected the mountains of the back forest ( Arber, Rachel, Lusen others) the Bohemian Forest, the Einödriegel is according to this definition, the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. Even in 1982 the Brockhaus writes in the article " Bayerischer Wald ": " In a geographical sense, the Bavarian Forest the part of Šumava, which rises as Front forest between the Danube and Regen ( in Einödriegel 1121m ) ".
