Eischoll

Eischoll ( Valais German: Eyschol ) is a municipality in the district west Raron in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Location

The municipality extends on the southern slope of the Rhone valley, but the municipality does not reach the bottom of the valley, because of the location, below the village of Ried mountain forest belongs to the municipality Niedergesteln. The highest point of the municipality is located at the summit horn for 2910.6 meters above sea level. The village Eischoll itself is located on a terrace at about 1220 meters above sea level.

The neighboring communities are located in the district Raron communities Unterbaech and Niedergesteln, and located in the district of Leuk communities Turtmann - Unterems and Ergisch.

Traffic

The community is located at any major route. The road connection begins in Turtmann or Visp. The valley floor is connected to the cable car Raron - Eischoll since 1946, the valley station is in the district of the municipality Turtig Raron near the train station Raron. The top station on the northern outskirts of the village. The cable car runs all year round schedule ( timetable Field 2250).

From the village a chairlift leads to the Stryggea where the ski lift Strygge - Erez is located, as well as a children's ski lift is operated. These three tracks are operated only in winter.

Culture

The Catholic parish Eischoll was built in 1766 when it was separated from the parish Niedergesteln. The Catholic Parish Church Himmelfart stands in the village and was built in 1886 by Joseph de Kalbermatten. It is a Neo-Romanesque church with a front tower and a semicircular choir. The altars date from the year 1921.

In Brunn Biel there is a baroque chapel, dedicated to the Holy Family. In the wide mat is the private chapel of the family of Red. The Mother of God of painting altar by Raphael Ritz and was painted in 1865. The wage is the 1835 built chapel of the Visitation.
