El Condado (Laviana)

El Condado is one of the nine parroquias in the community Laviana the autonomous community of Asturias in Spain.

Geography

El Condado is a Parroquia with 643 inhabitants ( 2011) and an area of 17.68 km ². It is high 340-370 m. The nearest major town is Laviana, the 5.5 km distant capital of the municipality of the same name.

Waters in the Parroquia

Through the Parroquia flows the Rio Nalon, a smaller tributary empties directly into this.

Mountains

The Peña Mea with an altitude of 1,560 m is the highest point in the Parroquia and the entire community.

Economy

Since time immemorial coal, iron, and copper is mined, still builds the tourism industry on it. The Agriculture, Forestry characterizes the region since time immemorial.

Climate

Pleasantly mild summers with mild also, rarely severe winters. In the highlands of the winters can be quite severe.
