The El Dorado Airport (Spanish Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado ) is an international airport and the largest in Colombia. It was opened in 1959 and is located in the northwest of the capital Bogota.
Airlines and destinations
The airport serves the Colombian airline Copa Airlines Colombia (formerly AeroRepública ) and Avianca as aviation hub, fly to domestic and international destinations. Iberia flies daily to Madrid. Air France flies to Paris every day. Frankfurt is served by Lufthansa.
Infrastructure
The airport has two runways at an altitude of 2,548 m and with three check-in areas for passengers. One for domestic, one for international and one for domestic airline Avianca ( Puente Aéreo terminal with 14 gates ). Airport operator is Opain, a consortium consisting of Colombian companies and the Zurich Airport. The airport was the first Latin American airport for air freight. The airport is subject to the airspace class A.
