Elena Zuasti

Elena Zuasti ( born May 18, 1935 in Montevideo, Uruguay, † April 8, 2011 ibid ) was an Uruguayan actress and comedienne.

Life

Zuasti was born in 1935 in Montevideo. At the age of 20 years, she completed training at the EMAD, a school of Dramatic Arts, where she was Senior Lecturer later. Until 1976 it belonged to the Comedia Nacional. In 1971 she received a scholarship from the French government. Three years later, an invitation to the United States. From 1970 to 1990 she held a leadership role in the theater of the Casa Municipal de Cultura. They also took over after the death of Sergio Otermins the post of director of the Casa de Comedies.

She taught for several decades Stage Performance. She also appeared in the Compañía Teatral Italia Fausta and Comediantes.com.

She was one of the first artists who appeared and adapted several European pieces (including Samuel Beckett, Shakespeare, Calderon de la Barca, Roger Vitrac or Voltaire) in the Uruguayan radio, but also spread to works by local authors such as Jorge Sclavo, Eduardo Sarlos or Ana Magna Bosco back. Zuasti was also a TV and movie actress. So she looked, inter alia, El año del dragon, A cara o cruz and Aldo Garay film La espera ( 2002). For their interpretation in La marquesa de Sade ' by Yukio Mishima, she was awarded the Florencio Sánchez- price. Further nominations for this award followed in 1999 for her performance in Greek and in 2000 for La muerte de un viajante.

She died April 8, 2011 probably due to a heart attack while she appeared on stage in the role of Martiniana in the piece Barranca abajo.
