Elia Rigotto
Rigotto Elia ( born March 4, 1982 in Vicenza ) is an Italian former racing cyclist.
Elia Rigotto won in 2004 with some U23 races: he won the Trofeo Zssdi, the GP Joseph Bruyère and three stages of the Giro delle Regioni. In 2005 he received a professional contract with the Italian ProTeam Domina Vacanze. From 2006 to 2008 he drove for the Milram German - Italian successor team and won in his first year there a stage win in the Tour of the Mediterranean. In 2006 he finished in Paris-Nice on two stages in the mass sprint fourth place respectively. In 2006 he started at the Giro d' Italia and the following year at the Vuelta a España.
In 2008 Rigotto was disqualified at the Tour Down Under, after he had brought with a head butt to the Australian racing driver Matthew Hayman in the final sprint to case. Hayman would suffer a broken collarbone. It was the first time in the Tour that a driver has been taken out of the race. 2009 ended Elia Rigotto his cycling career.
