Elio Martusciello
Elio Martusciello (* 1959 in Naples ) is an Italian improvisational musician, composer and multimedia artist.
The musical autodidact Martusciello worked as an improvisational musician to Eugene Chadbourne with Alvin Curran, Michel Doneda, Wolfgang Fuchs, Thomas Lehn, Jean -Marc Montera, Jerome Noetinger, Richard Nunn, Tony Oxley, Evan Parker, Michael Thieke and Z'EV together. He is one of the improvisation groups OsSatura ( with Fabrizio Spera and Luca Venitucci ) and taxonomy ( with Graziano Lella and Roberto Fega ) and is working in a duo with Mike Cooper ( Schismophonia ) and Tim Hodgkinson (Le Pecore di Dante ) and the electro-acoustic Bindou ensemble ( with Ana -Maria Avram, Chris Cutler, Rhodri Davies, Iancu Dumitrescu and Tim Hodgkinson ).
He is a founding member of IXEM (Italian eXperimental Electronic Music) and founded by Giuseppe Ielasi, Domenico Sciajno, Alessandro Bosetti, Valerio Tricoli and Renato Rinaldi, the experimental label Bowindo. Since 2002 he takes part in the multimedia and Life projects la locandaccia and Arturo. In 2005 he released his solo album Unoccupied Areas.
He has performed at festivals throughout Europe, South America and Korea. In 1993 he was Composer in Residence of the French Centre National de Création Musicale, where the composition of non- nato was created. On behalf of RAI 1998 Voices from audio box was created, more commissions followed. 2000 was Martusciello Composer in Residence at Cesare ( Studio de création musicale ) and the Institut international de musique Electroacoustique de Bourges ( IMEB ). For his compositions, he has won several prizes at the Grands Prix Internationaux de Musique Electroacoustique, at the Luigi Russolo Competition, and the CIMESP " in Sao Paolo.
Martusciello taught electronic music, electroacoustic and multimedia composition at the Conservatory of Cagliari.
