Elliott Sharp

Elliott Sharp ( born March 1, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American multi-instrumentalist and composer who is part of the experimental avant-garde scene of New York.

Sharp had from 6 years of piano lessons and played from the age of 8 clarinet in the school orchestra. He studied from 1969 to 1971 at Cornell University, then at Bard College ( BA 1973) and at the University of Buffalo ( MA 1977) physics, composition, ethnomusicology and improvisation, including at Morton Feldman and Roswell Rudd. In addition, Sharp, who in 1968 was changed to the guitar as the main instrument came on with psychedelic bands, but also with avant-garde jazz groups and classical concert ensembles. In 1978 he moved to New York where he played with Bobby Previte, Charles Noyes and Guy Klucevsek and the record label founded Zoar music.
