Elisabeth of Nuremberg

Elisabeth von Hohenzollern -Nuremberg (* 1358, † July 26, 1411 ) was German Queen and Electress of the Palatinate.

She was born as the daughter of Viscount Frederick V of Nuremberg and his wife Countess Elisabeth of Meissen and Thuringia.

On June 27, 1374, she married in Amberg Ruprecht III. , Elector of the Palatinate, and from 1400 German king. The marriage sprang nine children. Queen Elizabeth died in 1411, just a year after her husband, at the age of 53 years. Both were buried in the Holy Ghost Church, Heidelberg; her grave with a glorious Doppelepitaph is get there.

In the collegiate church at Neustadt on the Wine Route, a memoria of the Wittelsbach dynasty are King Ruprecht and his wife Elisabeth of Hohenzollern- Nuremberg, and her son Elector Ludwig III. painted by the Palatinate with his first wife, Blanche of England contemporary, as life-sized figures of a " Judgement ", the choir ceiling.

Elisabeth von Hohenzollern -Nuremberg was the sister of Frederick I of Brandenburg, the first Brandenburg electors of the House of Hohenzollern and progenitor of the Prussian rulers.
