Elizabeth Spriggs

Elizabeth Spriggs ( born September 8, 1929 in Buxton, Derbyshire, † July 2, 2008 in Oxford, Oxfordshire ) was a Laurence Olivier Award with the excellent and BAFTA -nominated British actress.

Life

Spriggs was one of the best-known character actresses of British television. Between 1982 and 1995 she played the role of Nan in the series Shine on Harvey Moon. They also appeared in several film adaptations of Dickens BBC. Between 1962 and 1976, Spriggs was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and played several Shakespearean roles in the theater, so among other things, Gertrude in Hamlet with David Warner in the title role. In 1978 she was awarded the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Love Letters on Blue Paper.

Spriggs played sporadically in films ( including Sense and Sensibility and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone ) and also worked as a radio play spokesperson, most recently for the BBC Radio 4 in Barbara Pym's Jane and Prudence.
