Ellen Corby

Ellen Corby ( born June 3, 1911 in Racine, Wisconsin, † 14 April 1999 in Los Angeles, California; actually Ellen Hansen) was an American actress. She became known to a worldwide audience, especially for her role as " Grandma " Esther Walton in the U.S. series The Waltons. For the outstanding performances in this series, she was awarded a total of three Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.

Life

Ellen Corby was when Ellen Hansen, born as the daughter of Danish immigrants in Racine, Wisconsin. She grew up in Philadelphia. 1932 began her career in Atlantic City as a chorus singer at a community theater.
