Ellesmere (TTC)

Ellesmere is a subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Scarborough RT, the Toronto Subway, on the Ellesmere Road between Kennedy Road and Midland Avenue. The station, which has ground-level side platforms, is used daily by an average of 1360 passengers (2009/10 ), making it by far the weakest of the entire network traffic.

Reason for the low utilization is the location in a commercial area of low density. There is a transfer possibility to a bus line that runs on the bridge over the station. Furthermore, the commuters is a park -and-ride with 60 parking spaces available. The track follows in this section of the route of the Canadian National Railway; north of the station passes under the subway in a short tunnel, the railway line, describing a tight 90 degree turn to then get on a viaduct.

The opening of the station on 24 March 1985 along with the entire Scarborough RT between Kennedy and McCowan. As part of the road project Transit City who served with linear motor trains line to be converted into a rail and extended beyond McCowan addition.
