Elling, Denmark

Elling is a place in Denmark in Frederikshavn municipality in North Jutland. He counts 1216 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) and was already known in the 12th century, early 13th century was the site of a church which Elling Kirke.

To the municipality (Danish: Sogn ) of Elling include also the places Jerup, Nielstrup, Strandby and Øster Holmen and the beach resort areas Bratten and Napstjert.

Through the municipal reform 1970, the municipality Elling was assigned to the town of Frederikshavn.

Traffic

From 1890 to 1924, Elling a station on the narrow gauge railway line Frederikshavn Skagen. With the conversion of the line to standard gauge the route was changed and shut down the station.
