Strandby

Strandby is a term coined by the fisheries village with 2389 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013 ) in northern Denmark. Strandby is located on the Baltic Sea in the parish Elling ( Elling Sogn ), which belonged to the Office Harde horn Herred in the former Hjørring to 1970. With the dissolution of the hardware structure of the parish was included in the municipality Frederikshavn in Northern Jutland newly established office, the municipality, in turn, went to the municipal reform on 1 January 2007 with other local authorities in the enlarged municipality Frederikshavn, which belongs to the region Nordjylland.

Strandby is located approximately six kilometers north of Frederikshavn and about seven kilometers southeast of Jerup.

The place is known since 1466 and enrolled to the 19th century " beach Bye ". Most of the inhabitants until the middle of the 20th century were farmers and fishermen.

The place was in 1945 a school and in 1966 with the Strandby Kirke own church. In addition, in Strandby is the largest Methodist church in Denmark.
