Vendsyssel

Vendsyssel is a landscape on the island of Vendsyssel -Thy (or North Jutland island), which is located north of the Limfjord in Denmark. The approximately 3,000 sq km area lies between the Kattegat and Skagerrak.

The west coast of Vendsyssel is characterized by wide and shallow beaches and the cliffs at Rubjerg. In the 1930s, large areas of holiday cottages were built in Blokhus and Løkken. The east coast has much narrower beaches, the water depth increases only slowly and often are sand banks off the shore. The landscape is much hillier and more wooded than the west of Vendsyssel. To the north the landscape Grenen runs in to the headland, northernmost point of Denmark. The landscape is characterized from Råbjerg towards Skagen dunes and moraines. There is also the Råbjerg Mile.

There are ferry, bridge and tunnel connections to the mainland.
