Ellington Airport ( Ellington Field) is used both as a civilian and a military airport. The U.S. military refers to his part of the site as Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base. Purchased by the city of Houston, Texas in 1984, Ellington Field now supports the operations of the U.S. military, NASA, the United States, and general aviation.

The airport was created in 1917 for the training of pilots of the United States Army Air Corps, has now been operated by the United States Air Force and is now owned by the city of Houston. At the airport, one of the biggest clubs in Texas Airman stationed, in addition to air shows across Houston are annually held. Ellington Field is about 15 miles south of downtown Houston located. The airport is operated by the Houston Airport System.
