Elliott Shriane

Elliott Shriane (* April 27, 1987 in Brisbane ) is an Australian Shorttracker.

Shrianes first major international event was the Junior World Championships in Budapest in 2003, but where he had to retire already at the latest in the quarterfinals in every race. A year later, he arrived in Beijing not cross over this round. Nevertheless, he was nominated in February 2004 for the first time for the short track speed skating World Cup, there came with the season, even the semi-finals. In the semifinal of the competition but was stopped by a disqualification. In the other World Cup in seasons 2003/ 04 and 2004/ 05 Shriane failed in the season often only in the semi-final, in individual competitions but earlier. With a fifth place with the team at the World Cup in November 2005 in Bormio Shriane be secured as a relay member's ticket for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Together with Lachlan Hay, Stephen Lee and Mark McNee he struck at the Olympics, the German team in the B final and placed himself so on the sixth.

After consistently good results in the World Cup 2006/ 07 over 500 meters Shriane reached at the end of the season in ninth place in the World Cup discipline over this distance. With the relay succeeded in the absence of several top nations a sixth rank in Heerenveen, on the short distance he won a convincing 15th place as best result, right at the season opening in Changchun, China. A Winter World Cup after he did not defend this good finishes, but instead remained a 26th place, which he won twice for his top score. The Australian season was not at all in the 2007/ 08 season at the start, as in the short track speed skating World Cup in 2008 /09. This season Shriane succeeded in Beijing surprisingly his first result in the top ten athletes, a tenth rank over 500 meters in Beijing. Also on the 1000 - meter course he reached with a 14th place his second-best result until then.

In addition to the international success Shriane was also once a second at the Australian short track speed skating championship in the adult area.
