Elophila feili

Elophila feili is a butterfly of the family Crambidae.

Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 18-25 millimeters. The front wings are ocher -colored and have a dark brown midfield. The Submarginallinie is only visible on the Costa loader. The hind wings are ocher. The midfield is dark brown and has an ocher diskozellularen spot. The Submarginallinie is dark brown.

The genital armature of the males is similar to the nymphaeata of Elophila. The Valven are smaller, have three longer Costalborsten and a stronger Gnathos. The Valven are about twice as long as the uncus, while nymphaeata are 2.4 times at E. as long.

The genital armature of females resembles that of E. nymphaeata, but the apophyses are longer, especially the posterior Apophyses. The posterior Apophyses are about 1.14 times as long as the ovipositor, E. nymphaeata however, they are only 0.58 times as long.

Similar Species

The forewings of the similar kind Elophila nymphaeata have a dark base color and a white midfield. In E. feili the ground color is paler than the dark brown midfield.

Dissemination

Elophila feili has been only in Portugal (Algarve, Odeceixe ) and Spain ( Seville, El Ronquillo, Caceres, Province Alcuéscar ) found.

Biology

The moths fly in May and from August to September. It is believed that two generations per year are formed. The preimaginal stages are unknown. In Portugal, the moths were collected near the coast.
