Elsa Fornero
Elsa Fornero ( born May 7, 1948 in San Carlo Canavese, Piedmont) is an Italian economist, university teacher and politician.
Scientific activity
Fornero is Professor of Economics at the University of Turin. Her work focuses on are studies on wealth creation, social security and pension funds. She is a member of several scientific institutes and councils.
Among her numerous publications including the Manuale italiano di Microeconomia, she wrote, among other things, with Mario Monti.
Political activity
Elsa Fornero had from 1993 to 1998 a mandate as a councilor for the civil list Alleanza by Torino in Turin.
She was appointed on November 16, 2011 in the existing of professionals Monti government as Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and served until April 28, 2013.
For a great deal of controversy in the Italian media made Fornero, when she broke out on December 4, 2011 at a live broadcast transmitter La7 press conference, at the announcement of the cuts in the pension system into tears.
Elsa Fornero is no party.

Elsa Fornero was a member of the Supervisory Board of the bank Intesa Sanpaolo. She has worked as a commentator for the business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
She is married to economist Mario Deaglio.
