Elvenking (band)

Elvenking is a company incorporated in Italy 1997 Power and Celtic / folk metal band.

Band History

Elvenking was founded in October 1997 by guitarists Aydan and Jarpen. First came bassist Sargon the band, in March 1998, singer Damnagoras, but not until the following September, the band was stabilized by the drummer Zender.

In 2000, the first promo CD "To Oak Woods bestowed " was recorded by the Elvenking received a record deal with AFM Records. After Sargon had left the band, he was replaced by Gorlan, who worked as a session musician while, but was soon taken to fix the band.

The first album " Heathenreel " was published on 23 July 2001.

In August 2002 Damnagoras left the band due to artistic differences. Replacement which was the album " Wyrd " was recorded, which was released on 19 April 2004 with singers dress and keyboardist and violinist Elyghen found.

End of 2004, Damnagoras Elvenking closed again, while dress left the band. Beginning of 2005 finally ended also Jarpen his collaboration with the group.

In March 2006, the third album " The Winter Wake ", which in April was followed by a small European tour as the opening act for Jon Oliva 's Pain appeared. For the title song of the album, the band vocalist Marcel "smear" Schirmer supported by Destruction.

End of September 2007 was released with " The Scythe " a concept album about death. The band is supported by guitarist Mike Wead on it (King Diamond, Candlemass ). For the single "The Divided Heart " is the first video of the band's history was published ..

On 14 November 2008 finally released their first acoustic album "Two Tragedy Poets ( ... and a Caravan of Weird Figures) " by the Italian band. In addition to acoustic versions of "The Winter Wake " and " The Wanderer" (both album "The Winter Wake " ) can be found here as well as new songs as well as Belinda Carlisle cover " Heaven is a Place on Earth".

On January 17, Elvenking announced that Rafahel now officially the second guitarist of the band after seeing them live long supported over a year. The number of band members thus amounts to six.

Since the publication of The Scythe, the band performs regularly at various festivals, especially in Italy and the surrounding countries.

Style

Elvenking plays melodic power metal with strong folk and slight death metal influences. In addition, many classical instruments such as are the violin (played by Elyghen ) used. The songs are characterized by many solos and strong, the subject matter of the lyrics underlining rhythm changes, which is further underlined by the very emotional song.
