Empuriabrava (in Spanish Empuriabrava ) is a town district of the municipality of Castelló d' Empúries on the Gulf of Roses in the province of Girona in Catalonia (Spain). The approximately two kilometers from Castelló d' Empúries away Situated on the Costa Brava settlement was founded in 1967 and has about 7873 inhabitants ( 2011).

Empuriabrava has the largest marina in Europe. A characteristic feature of the townscape is a grid-like scale network of navigable canals with a total of about 30 kilometers in length and about 5,000 ship berths. Most homes have direct access to the channels and jetties.

Economy

Since Empuriabrava was built directly for tourism, this is the main source of income of the village. In addition to numerous restaurants and shops there are in Empuriabrava many companies manufacture and sell the yachts, as well as boat rentals, sailing, surfing and diving schools. It is also a popular spot for skydivers as it has an airport ( ICAO code LEAP ). The gently sloping, sandy beach Platja d' Empuriabrava is about 1.6 kilometers long and one of the widest on the Costa Brava. The season guests are mainly from France and Germany, more rarely from Holland or the UK.

Culture

On the occasion of the holiday diada del Carme place every year on July 16 in Empuriabrava numerous events such as regattas, parachute demonstrations, exhibitions, Sardana dances, Habanera and sardine meal.
