Energy Future Holdings

The Energy Future Holdings ( EFH) is a product derived from the former TXU Corporation American supply company headquartered in Dallas.

Activities

EFH has arisen from the Dallas Power & Light was founded in 1917. It is currently the largest utility in the state of Texas.

EFH has 2.4 million customers, has a quasi- monopoly in the Texas electricity grids and large coal reserves and is the owner and operator of power plants with a total capacity of 18,300 megawatts, including a number of coal power plants and the nuclear power plant " Comanche Peak" in Somervell County southwest of Dallas.

History

In February 2007, gave private equity investors Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR ) and Texas Pacific Group and a consortium of other investors a leveraged takeover attempt known that with the equivalent of around 34.2 billion euros (including the mitübernommenen debts of the company in amounting to about 12 billion euros ) to date was the largest takeover of its kind.

TXU was according to the plans of investors after the acquisition in three separate individual companies for power generation ( Luminant ), the operation of the network ( Oncor ) and the end customer business ( TXU Energy) split. Also, they have reached an agreement with the environmental groups Natural Resources Defense Council and Environmental Defense to waive after a takeover on eight of the planned power plant new construction and scale back the CO ₂ emissions from power plants by 2020 to 1990 levels.

After successful completion of the acquisition, TXU was renamed Energy Future Holdings and the company taken from trading.
