Engelhardia hainanensis

Engelhardia hainanensis is an endemic species in China from the family of the walnut family ( Juglandaceae ).

Features

Engelhardia hainanensis is up to 30 m tall tree. The leaves are pinnate, and 15 to 23 cm long. The petiole is 4.8 up to 7 cm long, hairy or glabrous, the rachis is hairy. The 6-10 leaflets sit long stems to 2 to 3 mm, are oblong -ovate to oblong -elliptic, from 5 to 10,5 cm long and 2.5 to 4 cm wide. The underside is very hairy along the midrib, nerves shoulders sit scattered hairs. The leaf margin is serrated.

The nuts are obovate, 8-10 mm long and 5-7 mm wide. The middle leaf is 5-6 cm long, 2.5 to 2.8 cm per side. Fruit ripening takes place in December and January.

Dissemination

Engelhardia hainanensis is endemic to the island of Hainan and comes here only in the southwest before in the area of ​​Dongfang. The tree grows in Talwäldern.
