Enterotoxin

Enterotoxins (Greek = enteron of bowel and toxins = toxic) are poisons that attack the intestine and often cause of food poisoning, followed by gastroenteritis. There are proteins that are secreted by many types of bacteria and strains, and represent the main cause of their pathogenicity. So enterotoxins are responsible for the symptoms of the disease cholera, traveler's diarrhea and dysentery.
