Épineuil

Épineuil is a commune with 621 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Yonne department in Burgundy (French Bourgogne ).

Geography

Épineuil located near the Canal de Bourgogne, 32 km ordöstlich of Auxerre, the capital of the department of Yonne. Neighboring communities of Épineuil are Junay in the West, Molosmes in the east, Saint -Vincent -des- Bois in the east, Saint -Martin- sur -Armançon the southeast and Tonnerre in the south. The municipality covers 621 hectares, the average altitude is 223 meters above sea level, the Mairie stands at a height of 174 meters.

Épineuil a climate of type Cfb is assigned ( according to Köppen and Geiger ): Warm Temperate rain climate ( C ), fully wet ( f), the warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C ( b). There is a maritime climate with moderate summer.

History

Culture and sights

The church of Saint -Etienne dates from the 12th century, and was rebuilt or enlarged in the 13th and 16th centuries. It was 1965 in the additional list of Monuments historiques registered ( historic monument '). In the church there is a pulpit, and a priest howdah from the 1730s. Both are classified as a monument historique. Also listed building is an oil painting that the Rev. Jean Gautier (? † 1767) is, and has been donated in 1878 by Madame Coeurderoy. Furthermore, valuable sculptures are in the Church, among others, the stone statue of St. Vincent from 1589 and a Pietà from the end of the 15th century.

Economy

There are in Épineuil limestone quarries. Major lines of business of Sino Liens are mushroom cultivation, farming, viticulture and beekeeping. The AOC Bourgogne Épineuil is made in the community.
