Erard II of Chacenay

Erhard II of Chacenay (Latin Erardus de Cachenaio / Airardus de Chassenay / Erardus Chacenaii, † June 16, 1236 ) was Lord of Chacenay (now Canton Essoyes ).

He was the eldest son of Erhard I of Chacenay and Mathilde ( called Félicité ) of Donzy (House Semur ). From his father he inherited to 1191 whose reign.

Erhard joined the Fifth Crusade in 1217, from which he returned prematurely after the conquest of Damietta. In 1220 he was back in France.

He was buried in the monastery of Clairvaux.

Marriage and issue

He married 1205 Emelina of Broyes († 1249 ), that of Eudes II de Champlitte widow. They had the following children:

  • Erhard III. († 1253 ), Lord of Chacenay, successor Erhard II
  • Huet († 1249 on the 6th Crusade )
  • Matilda ( † around 1233 ), before 1223 ∞ Guido of Arcis- sur -Aube
  • Alix († 1278 ), mistress of Chacenay, successor Erhard III. , ∞ 1) 1224 Count Guigues V of Forez († 1259 ) ∞ 2) 1259/60 Viscount William III. from Melun († 1278 ).
