The Erdinger Brewery Werner Brombach GmbH, short Erdinger brewery is a brewery in Erding, northeast of Munich.

The best-known product is the Erdinger Weissbier.

With an annual output of about 1.5 million hectoliters Erdinger is the largest wheat beer brewery in the world. The brewery does not license. The only location is Erding. From there, the wheat beer is exported to 70 countries worldwide.

History

The beginnings of Erdinger are in the year 1886, when the construction of a wheat beer brewery was first documented in Erding. After several changes of ownership, bought in 1935, the then Managing Director Franz Brombach the brewery and gave her on December 27, 1949 the name Erdinger. In 1965, the brewery was able to achieve an annual output of around 40,000 hectoliters for the first time.

In 1965, the son of Franz Brombach, Werner Brombach, joined the company. After his father's death in 1975 the graduate Diploma and Master Brewer took over the private brewery and leads his father's work to this day. 1978 achieved the brewery an output of approximately 225,000 hl and was the market leader.

After the company 's headquarters have not provided enough space in the old town, in 1983 were built on an area on the outskirts of Erding new brewing equipment. In 1990 Erdinger broke through the first Weißbierbrauerei the mark of 1 million hl. Currently, the output is about 1.65 million hl.

1991, the other still existing Erdinger Brewery Fischer's Stiftungsbräu was acquired, and thus extends the range on Light beer, which will continue to be offered under the name of Fischer 's Hell.

Varieties

After the production of Fischer 's Hell was released to the Irlbacher brewery Erdinger brews exclusively White Beer: The portfolio of private brewery has nine or ten different wheat beers ( Erdinger Hard White is served only on the Autumn Festival in Erding and is not commercially available, only surplus production regionally sold in bottles for the autumn Festival ). Erdinger is at its wheat beers to the traditional method, ie white beer matures (like champagne) in the bottle. This procedure is used by only a few breweries in Germany.

Special

As one of the first on the beer market founded in 1995 Erdinger own fan club, to the now more than 80,000 members count, including numerous celebrities such as Franz Beckenbauer, Mario Basler, Gerd Ruben Bauer, Jens Weißflog and Lothar Matthäus. For the members of a special fan club magazine is published three times a year.

With over 3,000 active members, the team Erdinger alcohol free is a sportsman's community of professional and amateur athletes. Erdinger Arena in Oberstdorf: The ski jumping facility on Shadow Mountain is one of the most modern ski facilities and was baptized Erdinger Arena in autumn 2004.

Visitor Center: The starting point for brewery tours, the visitor center opened in 2000. Subject of leadership is the career of the wheat beer from raw material to finished product.
