The Erftstadt station is the only passenger station of the city Erftstadt in North Rhine-Westphalia and thus the most important transport hub of the city. The station is located on the Eifel circuit and is served by the railway line RB 24, RE 22 and RE 12, which are serviced by Kall Trier to Cologne Central Station in 30 minutes.

Location

The station area is located on the south- eastern edge of town, in the southern part of the district Liblar, between the Ville chain of lakes in the east and the town center Erft Little City in the west.

History

1874 began the Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft ( RhE ) the construction of some elaborate station Liblar in the style of historicism. On March 1, 1877, the first Rhenish briquettes were pressed. Thus, also the Liblar station in subsequent years developed into a powerful freight station. 1913, the station building was enlarged. 1938 Liblar station was expanded for the brown coal exports to 16 tracks due to the ever growing demand. By 1960, the last open-pit mines so that the brown coal exports in Liblar were closed and dismantled and no longer possible. In the following years, the Liblar station lost its importance. 1969 came in the course of municipal reform and the subsequent following reorganization of the district Euskirchen for combining multiple communes ( including Liblar ) and the founding of the city Erftstadt. In 1981, the old station building was demolished by order of the Federal Railways. Through the expansion of the railway line between Cologne and Trier today Erfstadt station was built at the same location.

Facility

The station has two platform tracks. Also located at the train station parking, bicycle parking, a bus stop, a taxi stand and a small kiosk. By the bus stop with direct connections to the bus lines 990, 975, 920 and 977 of the transport association Rhein-Sieg.

The rail transport is with diesel railcars of Class 628.4 in triple traction, and DB Regio NRW operated by DB Regio West with diesel railcars 644 series in one-to three -unit.
