Eric G. Stacey

Eric G. Stacey ( born December 5, 1903 in London, † May 1, 1969 in Los Angeles County, California ) was an American production manager and assistant director, who was most nominated for the Oscar for best assistant director, without this ever to obtain.

Biography

Stacey began in 1933 as an assistant director on Deluge and worked in this capacity until 1940 in the production of twelve other films. At the Oscars in 1936, 1937 and 1938, he was three times in a row nominated for a few years Oscar award for best director assistant, but did not get it. The nominations were made here for the movies Les Misérables ( 1935) in 1936, The Garden of Allah ( 1936) in 1937 and a star is born on (1937 ) in 1938.

Other films made with him as an assistant director, were Gone with the Wind (1939 ), Rebecca (1940 ) and The Scarlet Horseman ( 1940). He worked with film directors such as Richard Boleslawski, William A. Wellman, Jack Conway, Victor Fleming, Alfred Hitchcock and Cecil B. DeMille.

After 1940 Stacey was as a production manager and helped at in the coming years until his death in the production of nearly thirty films like Fantastic Voyage (1966) and The Boston Strangler (1967 ) directed by Richard Fleischer and Derek Flint - hard as flint (1968 ) by Gordon Douglas.
