Eric Schweig

Eric Schweig ( born Ray Dean Thrasher, born June 19, 1967 in Inuvik, Northwest Territories ) is a Canadian actor.

He is best known for his role as Chingachgooks son Uncas in The Last of the Mohicans ( 1992).

Life

Eric Schweig was born on June 19, 1967 in Inuvik and comes maternal Inuit, paternal Germans from. He was already adopted at the age of six months by an English speaking German - French family which he later called " state- approved Kidnapping " designated. His biological mother died in 1989 of complications from alcoholism without having seen her son again. Up to the age of six he lived in Inuvik, he moved with his family first to Bermuda and later to Combermere, Ontario. His adoptive parents abused him regularly. At age 16, he went home, went to Toronto and earned his living there as a scaffolder.

In 1987, he was accidentally discovered by a film producer, who suggested him for a role in the movie The Shaman's Source (1990). Without ever having attended an acting training, he beat out his competitors and took over the role of Robert Cow in the film. This brought his film career rolling.

In addition to appearances in various television series, he appeared sporadically in stage productions such as The cradle will fall on glass and A Tiger. He became famous mainly through the role of Uncas in Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans from the year 1992.
