Erik Rasmussen (footballer)

Erik Sandvad Rasmussen ( born December 24, 1960 in Brøndby ) is a former Danish football player and current coach.

Playing career

Erik Rasmussen comes from the youth department of the then first division club Køge BK, where he was appointed to the first team in 1977. Two years later he moved to city rivals Herfølge BK, but came after a further two years back to his original club. In 1984, Rasmussen's indoor soccer career in the United States. In the Wichita Wings in Kansas City, the Dane became the top star and has received numerous awards and nicknamed "the wizard" ( in German: the magician ). In the season 1987/88 he got the title for the top scorers and the Most Valuable Player. After this success last season came back to Denmark Rasmussen, played one year at BK Frem København and then a year at Brøndby IF. There was a rather short-term station in Baltimore Blast, another American Indoor Football Association and in Helsingør IF in 1992. Thereafter the striker moved back to his youth club Køge BK and remained there until 1997. From 1997 to 1999 Rasmussen went back to the U.S. to play two more years indoor soccer at the already known associations Wichita Wings and Baltimore Blast.

National

For the Danish national football team Rasmussen played two missions. On October 10, 1990, he appeared as a substitute in a 4-1 win over the Faroe Islands in the 74th minute. His second mission was on 5 June 1991 in a 2-1 victory over the Danes Austria. Again, Rasmussen came as a wildcard for use and was substituted in the 78th minute.

Coaching career

In the season 1999/ 00 Erik Rasmussen began his coaching career with a small Danish club from Skaelskoer. In 2000 he took over as coach when two-time Danish champion Næstved BK, he has coached for three years. Since January 2004 he is the coach was not founded until 1999 club FC Midtjylland. With the wolves he reached the 2005 Danish Cup final ( 0-3 against Brøndby IF lost ) and in 2006 /07 runners-up of the Super League. At the end of the season 2007/ 08 he left Midtjylland for personal reasons, in early 2009, he took over Aarhus GF.
