Erik Vendt

Erik Vendt ( born January 9, 1982 in North Easton, Massachusetts ) is an American freestyle swimmer and location.

Career

Erik Vendt lives in Ann Arbor and studied at the University of Southern California. He is trained by Bob Bowman and starts for the club Wolverine. In 1998, he won the 400m and 1,500 m freestyle his first U.S. title. Vendt competed in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and won the silver medal in the 400 m medley there. Over 1500 m freestyle, on this track he was U.S. champion of the year, he also reached the final, where he finished sixth. Also in the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka, the Americans won the silver medal over 400 m medley. The title he won well at the U.S. Championships, as the title of the 1500-meter freestyle. 2002 Vendt won for the fourth time the U.S. title over 1,500 m freestyle and was second on the 400 m freestyle and documents.

At the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona Vendt won the bronze medal over 1500 m freestyle. In 2004 he started for the second time in the Olympics. In Athens, as in 2000 he won the bronze medal in Sydney about 400 m medley, over 1500 m freestyle, he retired already out in the flow. 2006 Vendt was the fifth time U.S. champion in the 1500 m freestyle. He also won over this distance at the Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria. Were less successful the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne. Over 1500 m freestyle Vendt admittedly came into the final, but there was only eight, and thus last. About 800 m freestyle, he retired already out in the flow.

In the U.S. Trials 2008 to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing Vendt reached only a few good results. About 200 m freestyle, he finished sixth, more than 400 m freestyle by third parties, over 1500 m in fourth. He qualified for Season inserts. It was used in the flow of the 4x200m freestyle relay and qualified for the finals with this. He was not used in the victorious season. Vendt is U.S. record holder over 1,500 m freestyle.
