Ernie Kovacs

Ernie Kovacs; actually Ernest Edward Kovacs ( born January 23, 1919 in Trenton, New Jersey; † January 13, 1962 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor, comedian and musician.

Life and career

Ernie Kovacs was the son of Hungarian immigrants. He graduated from the New York School of Theatre and received in 1951 his first TV show entitled Time for Ernie. Thereafter, he hosted with Ernie in Kovacsland and The Ernie Kovacs Show two more shows, which earned him several Emmy nominations.

He also appeared in a number of film productions, including My Bell Book and Candle with Jack Lemmon and land of a thousand adventures with John Wayne.

As a musician, he composed a number of successful songs, which he often used in his television shows.

He was married twice and has three children. On January 13, 1962, he lost in Beverly Hills on the way home from a party in control of his Chevrolet Corvair and crashed into a concrete pillar. He was killed instantly, leaving behind his second wife Edie Adams high tax debt, it was discharging through fees for television appearances and donations from fellow celebrities.

Ernie Kovacs was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
