Ertuğrul Günay

Ertuğrul Günay ( born March 1, 1947 in Ordu ) is a Turkish lawyer, politician and former Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey.

Life

He graduated in 1969 from the Faculty of Law at the University of İstanbul. Then Günay worked in private practice in Ordu. He was an influential member of a group of Turkish intellectuals who went to Bosnia during the Bosnian War. Günay was co-founder of the civil movements " Eastern Conference " ( Dogu Konferansı ) and "New policy action" ( Yeni Siyaset Girişimi ). He wrote for various newspapers and magazines and published two books.

1973 Günay was in the writing competition Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi the (CHP ) for the 50 - year anniversary of the first party. His text was entitled " From the State Party to the People's Party" ( Devlet Partisi'nden Halk Partisi'ne ). Between 1974 and 1977 he was a provincial leader of the CHP in the province of Ordu. During the years of inner party opposition against the then party leader Ecevit Günay was on the side of the trailer Baykals. Ertuğrul Günay was a member of the CHP for the province of Ordu in the 16th legislative period (June 5, 1977 to September 12, 1980 ) of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In this legislature Günay was the youngest member of his 30 years.

Ertuğrul Günay was at this time in the CHP as a politically left standing member. After the military coup in Turkey on September 12, 1980, he was arrested on suspicion of membership in Devrimci Yol and had to serve a one-year prison sentence. Between the years 1986 and 1987 Günay province leader of the SHP was ( Sosyaldemokrat Halkçı Parti ) in Ankara. Between 1990 and 1991 he was Deputy Secretary-General of the SHP. Günay participated in the preparations that to launch again after the coup prohibited CHP. Between 9 September 1992 and 1994 he was Secretary General of the CHP. In 1995 he left the party, around 1999 active to re-enter politics. In the former parliamentary elections, the CHP did not make the move into the Parliament. He was referred to the party leadership from the party due to differences of opinion.

2007 Günay has surprisingly been a member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP). In the parliamentary elections in 2007 Günay was as representative of the ACP for the province of İstanbul for the 22nd legislative period (4 August 2007 - ) is selected in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Günay, 2007 was a member of the Second Erdoğan Cabinet of the AKP government under Erdogan in which he was 2013 Culture and Tourism Minister until January 24, since 29 August.

Günay is married and has two children.

Günay 2011 received the Grand Gold Medal with Ribbon for Services to the Republic of Austria.

On December 27, 2013 Günay in protest against the corruption scandal of the ACP announced his resignation from the party.
