Erwin Lindner

Erwin Lindner ( born April 7, 1888 in Böglins, † November 30, 1988 in Stuttgart ) was a German entomologist.

Life

Erwin Lindner, who was born on April 7, 1888 in Böglins the son of the estate manager Otto Lindner, received in 1913 after completing his studies at the University of Munich a job as an assistant at the former Württemberg Natural History Collection, now the Museum of Natural History Stuttgart. Lindner, entrusted with the management of the Entomological Department, in 1920, 1925, appointed as conservator for main conservator. In 1953 his retirement. Erwin Lindner passed away on November 30, 1988 in Stuttgart.

Lindner, a passionate collector, took part in several expeditions and led them independently. So he traveled to Dalmatia, the Gran Chaco, Anatolia, Liguria, East Africa, Italy, Spain and regularly the Alpine regions.

He was a member of the Society of Natural History in Württemberg, which he chaired from 1957 to 1960. In 1963 he was made ​​an honorary member. 1956 was honored in recognition of his contributions to the field of dipterology with the awarding of Fabricius Medal Erwin Lindner of the German Entomological Society.
