Esko Järvinen

Kauko Esko Järvinen (* December 15, 1907 in Lahti, † March 7, 1976 in Helsinki) was a Finnish skiers, the ski jumping, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined.

Career

Järvinen reached at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1926 in the discipline of single ( normal hill / 17 km) in sixth place. In ski jumping on the normal hill, he finished with 75.885 points, the 19th Place.

He was at the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 as a soldier participants of the Finnish team at the demonstration competition military patrol run and ended up with Eino Kuvaja, Kalle Tuppurainen and Veikko Ruotsalainen in second place. However, since it was just a demonstration event, no medals were awarded. In the Nordic combined and he was fifth in the special jumping, he finished 22nd place.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1929 in Zakopane, he won in the individual discipline ( Normalschanze/18 km ) the bronze medal. In ski jumping individual he finished after jumps on 48 and 46 meters in 35th place.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1931 in Oberhof Järvinen started again, but was not among the top 60 that were included in the ranking.

Järvinens brother Erkki was active as an athlete and started as a triple jumper at the Summer Olympic Games in 1928 in Amsterdam.
